Somebody said something the other day that stopped me mid-scroll. A guy was talking about wanting to be vegan… but also loving bacon. And the response he got? “So be a vegan that eats bacon.”
And I thought, well damn… there it is.
We get so caught up in doing things right that we end up doing nothing at all. We tell ourselves we’ll start eating better once we’re ready to go all in. We’ll hit the gym when we can commit five days a week. We’ll launch the project when every detail is perfect. We’ll finally take that trip, join that group, or put ourselves out there… when we’re “fully ready.”
Spoiler alert: that moment never comes.
You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t even need to be consistent at first. You just need to start. Be the guy who eats one decent meal a day and still grabs a burger at night. Be the guy who walks around the block instead of running a marathon. Be the guy who shows up once, awkward and unsure, instead of waiting until you feel confident enough to glide in like you own the place.
Half-ass it. Seriously. Half-ass the hell out of it. Because half-assed action beats zero-ass perfection every single time.
Maybe you drop the bacon later. Maybe you don’t. That’s not the point. The point is you moved. You started. You proved to yourself that you’re not stuck.
And that’s where everything changes.
