Happy Week of Chastity to Those Who Celebrate!

National Chastity Week… But Make It Kinky
It’s no secret that kink-wise, I have a soft spot for chastity. Years ago, I had four submissives locked up at once. Yes, four. One of them was a straight married man whose wife very enthusiastically handed me the key. Life is funny like that.
In more recent years, I’ve found that being on the other end of the lock can be just as delicious. For me, it sharpens focus. It builds anticipation. It turns a simple orgasm into an event with fireworks and a marching band. And let’s be honest, it’s one hell of a mind game.
Now here’s the part that makes me smile.
This week happens to be National Chastity Week. And no, it wasn’t created by a leather daddy in a dungeon somewhere. It was started in 1998 by the American Life League as a way to promote abstinence before marriage. It runs every year during the week of Valentine’s Day, February 8 through 14. The original goal was to encourage young people to abstain from sex until marriage, reduce unplanned pregnancies, and emphasize what they call the “sacred nature” of sexuality. Over time, more than 100 organizations have joined in observing it.
Before that, in 1990, a woman named Mary Meyer even founded the National Chastity Association to support singles who wanted to remain abstinent until marriage. There have been government programs, religious campaigns, cultural debates… the whole nine yards.
And while that flavor of purity culture doesn’t exactly get my motor running, here’s my take: if straight folks can claim Lady Gaga, we can absolutely claim National Chastity Week.
The holiday started on Sunday and wraps up tomorrow. So here’s your playful challenge: If you’re brand new to chastity, see if you can make it to tomorrow without an orgasm. If you’ve got a cage gathering dust in your drawer, now’s your moment. Lock up. Breathe. Let the tension build.
Self-denial, when it’s chosen and playful, can be its own kind of pleasure.
