Not the sexy kind of nothing either.

The blank-screen, brain-fried, “well damn, here we are” kind.

I’ve been circling this article all day. Opening the laptop. Closing it. Making coffee. Getting distracted. Telling myself, just start something, anything. And still… nothing landed.
And here’s the kicker.
I’m supposed to hop on a Zoom in 20 minutes.
And I just… can’t.
Not because I don’t care. Not because I’m slacking.
Because I hit the wall. Hard.
You know that moment when your body quietly taps you on the shoulder all day…
…and then eventually just shoves you into the couch and says, we’re done here?
So tonight, I’m doing something radical.
I’m canceling the Zoom. I’m grabbing the couch. I’m letting myself exist without producing, planning, or performing for a minute.
An hour of nothing.
Maybe some mindless TV. Maybe I just sit there and stare into space like a very handsome houseplant. Then I’m going to bed early like the grown-ass man I pretend to be.
Because here’s the truth nobody likes to admit:
You don’t get bonus points for pushing through exhaustion.
You don’t win a medal for ignoring your body.
And all that “power through it” energy?
Cute in theory. Burnout in practice.
So consider this your little nudge, your permission slip, your slightly bossy best friend moment:
Listen to your body.
If it’s asking for rest, give it rest.
If it’s asking for quiet, give it quiet.
If it’s asking you to cancel something and choose yourself instead… maybe it’s right.
We spend so much time trying to show up for everything and everyone else.
Tonight, I’m showing up for me.
You should too.
Go lie down.
Go take the pressure off.
Go do something that feels like exhale instead of effort.
We’ll pick it back up tomorrow.
But tonight?
We rest.
